Here is the last email from the Mission Field

Monday we had P-day. We had time to Email. Then I went with another set of Missionaries to go to the Mall while other missionaries went to the Zoo. We also watched an elder wax his beard off. It was lots of fun. The Family that was going to feed us was not able to so they ordered a pizza to our place. They ended up giving them the wrong address so it was an hour and a half until we got it.  Then we were able to see Phil.

Tuesday we had Zone Conference in Derby. We had car inspections and breakfast. Then we had some trainings and then we had lunch and some role plays. Then we got the I pads. All the missionaries that are going home this week were not given one. Very sad. Then we had a Testimony Meeting for all the missionaries going home in the next 3 months. This was great to hear everyone’s testimony. There are about 25 missionaries going home in the 3 zones that were there. Then we had dinner with the Jarells Family. They are our investigator family that is working on baptism.

Wednesday we had time to set up Elder McGee’s I Pad. Then we went over to the Yees to help them move a few things. That night we had dinner with the Zogg Family. It was Brother Zogg and his kids. His wife was at Girls Camp. He still cooked for us even with his wife gone.

Thursday we had time to visit people. We meet with the WML and then we saw the Stoddarts. Then we had dinner with the Eggleston Family.

Friday we had District Meeting. Then we went on Exchanges with the Zone Leaders. This was lots of fun. I went with Elder Every. It was fun to go on Exchanges with him because when I was serving in Topeka he was in my district and we went on exchanges many time before.  We had to take our car in for an oil Change. Then we saw a few people then had dinner. Then we went to volleyball night at the Church Building. Then on our way home we had to stop by the other Church Building to pick up an elder’s I pad that he left in the Class Room.

Saturday we exchanged back at the Elders Quorum BBQ. Then we had new tires put on our car. Then we saw the Jerell’s Family. Then we had dinner with Sister Galloway.
Sunday we had Church. The Jerell’s family came to church this week. I was called up to the stand to bare my testimony because it was my last week as a missionary. So that was fun. Then we had dinner dropped off by the Parkerd family. Then we had a mission Presidents Devotional. This was for both the Derby and Wichita Stakes. This was a great meeting for Recent Converts and Investigators. It was cool to see how many families came even with it being Father’s Day. It was cool to see Peggy there. Peggy was down in Wellington when I was down there and then I ran in to her when I was in the Maize Ward. Now she is in the Andvover ward and attends church when she has off.

This week has been great.

I am truly great full that I was able to serve a mission here in Kansas. It has not been the easiest thing in the world but it has been lots of fun. I have truly learned a lot about using the Atonement every day to repent of the things that I have done wrong. That everyday we need to make steps to become a better Follower of Jesus Christ. That as we pray for help we can all ways get an answer to our prayers. It has been the best to see people that don't have Jesus Christ in their life come and learn about him. Their whole lives changes. They truly become a happy and want to make steps unto him. They truly bless their life and their family. I have also learned a lot about the area you are called to is the area that Heavenly Father needs you to be in. There are people you need to talk to and help. That as you find them and step out of you comfort zone you can see His hand in you life and everyone around you. I have truly learned a lot and am grateful I was able to serve a 2-year mission.

Thanks for every thing. Have a safe week. Keep cool this week.
Love,

Elder Andrew Allen.

This week has been long but good.
Monday we had p-day. During p-day if fixed Elder Pasquale bike for him. Then we had dinner with the Grant Family. Then we went to FHE with the Grants and Hansen Family at the Church. They played a dodge ball tag game. This was lots of fun.
Tuesday we had district meeting. After district meeting we went on exchanges with our district leader. I went to the other area and worked with Elder Helms all day. We were able to find lots of people and have a great night.
Wednesday we exchanged back. We were able to work up in Wichita and Goddard before dinner. We were able to talk to Bill. Bill just got back from a trip and we followed up on how he was doing. We had dinner with the Hansen Family.  Then we had correlation meeting with Brother Cooper and other ward members at the Church Building.
Thursday we had dinner with the Gibson Family. Then Brother Adams came out with us. We tried a few families but no one was home. The funniest house we tried was a family we had an appointment with, they left a note on the door telling us they were not interested. But we were able to see the Cocanoure family here in Goddard.
Friday we saw the Basham Family and Jarred and few other less actives before dinner. We had dinner with the Jacob Family. Then we left to have a lesson with Bill and his family.
Saturday we had a Thank you BBQ that we attended. The missionaries before I got here helped with an angleman walk here in town. They put on a BBQ to thank all the helpers.  Then we went over to the Jacob house to help rip out the flooring. They were ripping out the carpet in the dinning area and the hard wood in the kitchen to make room for the new hardwood flooring that is getting put down. This was lots of fun. Then we were able to dinner with the Bruce family. Then we went over to the church building for a reception that the Balzer's were putting on for their daughter. This was lots of fun and food.
Sunday we had church. After church we went over to see Bill and his family. Then we had dinner with the Millward Family. Then we saw the Egglestons.
Have a safe week. Keep up the good work. Be safe. Thanks for everything.
Love,
Elder Andrew Allen.

June 8, 2015

This week has been long.

Monday we had dinner with the Summer family after we spent the day with the other missionaries at the park by the zoo. We had fun play kick ball and eating hotdogs and having brownies.

Tuesday we had District Meeting in the morning. After District Meeting Elder Licktey went on Splits with us. He came with me in our Area. Elder McGee went with Elder Helms in Rowling Hills ward. We had dinner with the Trulock Family. Then we had time to see the Baham Family.

Wednesday we had time to attend Correlation meeting with the WML Brother Cooper. Then we went over and mowed the Yee's lawn for them. Then we exchanged back and sister Mock dropped off food for us. This is the daughter in law of Sister Mock in Wellington and the daughter of Allan Brundage in Argoinia. It is funny to run into people you know.

Thursday we had time to help Sister Adams clean out the gutters at her house. Then we had lunch and then were able to see a few people before dinner with the Galloway family. Then we had a team up with Brother Hibbs in the Ward. We were able to try 3 families and all them were home and talked to us. It was a great night.

Friday we had Zone Training. This was a great meeting that the Zone Leaders taught us a lot. Then we were able to see lots of people that ended up not being home. We did some tracing today. Only had one good contact out of the whole street we knocked.  Then we had dinner with the Peterson Family.

Saturday we had time to do service for the Fleetwood family. Then we had time to tract and visit some less actives. Then we had dinner with the Balzer Family out in Norwich. This is a fun family they have 12 kids. The oldest is about 27 and the youngest is few months. We had a great time talking to them. We talked about scouting and the church and missions. It was a great evening.

Sunday we had Church. It started at 7:30 with Ward Council then we had church at 9. We had lots of members show up but no investigators. But it was a great Fast and Testimony meeting. Then we had time to work and then we had dinner with the Genteman Family. He is the Bishop of the YSA ward so the Zone Leaders also had dinner with us. Elder Every one of our ZL got a ipad this week at the Mission Leadership Meeting. Elder Pasquale didn’t get one because he goes home with me. So next week I don’t get one when the rest of the mission does.

This week has been very hot. It has been in the 95s and with humidity. Lots of fun. Thanks for everything. Have a safe week. Love you all.

Love,

Elder Andrew Allen

June 1, 2015

This week has been interesting.
Monday we had Zone P day. We watched Ephraim’s Rescue. This was a lot of fun. Then we had dinner with the Hansel Family. Our water heater blew up today.  So no hot water.
Tuesday we had district meeting and lunch. Then Elder Helms and I went on Exchanges. We were able to see many less actives and meet lots of people. Then we had dinner with the Adams Family. Then we saw Brice.

Wednesday we had a Meeting with Elder Clark. He came from the missionary department to talk about the new changes that are going to happen. They talked about how this new program will not increases our baptism but it will help us use the resources we have and our time more effective. We still need to do our part but use the new tools we are given. Elder Clark also talked about how these new programs will help raise a more protected generation of youth and will teach us how to use the Internet and Face Book and raise our kids. This was lots of fun to be together as a mission again. Then we had time to go over and set up the baptismal interview with Sister Basham. Sister Basham’s Grandkids are ready to be baptized. Then we had a correlation meeting at the church.
Thursday we had the Baptismal Interviews for the kids. We meet with Brother Cooper and talked about the baptismal service on Saturday.  Elder Liechty our district leader was able to interview them. They both passed. Then we had dinner with the Rubbs family.  The plumber came and replaced the water heater but the Electrical was not working. So no hot water yet.
Friday we had time to prepare everything and also see many people in town. Goddard is a very small town with not a lot people. It has a Wal-Mart in town. Then we had dinner with the Ottman family. We were able to stop in and see Bill and his family. They finally got the water heater to work.  So we had a hot shower after our day.
Saturday we started the day with a move. We were able to help a family that lived in north Wichita move into our ward. They meet President Bell and he told them the missionaries would love to help. So the Zls and us went to help, they are a part member Family. Then we had the Baptism. It ended up that the Basham family thought the baptism was at 2pm. So they showed up an hour late. But it all worked out well. Then we had dinner with the Hursucel family.
Sunday we had church and the confirmations of the Cadavid girls. It went well but we had to redo the confirmations in Sunday School because of the wording that was said. It was someone in the audience that said something to make us look into what was said and what need to be fixed. In the end we got it all worked out. We had a great time at church. Then we went over to the Baham's for lunch. Then we had dinner latter in the day with the Power Family.
This has been a great week. I will send the baptism picture when I get a copy of it. My camera is not working to well. But I have a cool picture of a wheat filed. Thanks for every thing.
Love,
Elder Andrew Allen
