June 22, 2015

Here is the last email from the Mission Field

Monday we had P-day. We had time to Email. Then I went with another set of Missionaries to go to the Mall while other missionaries went to the Zoo. We also watched an elder wax his beard off. It was lots of fun. The Family that was going to feed us was not able to so they ordered a pizza to our place. They ended up giving them the wrong address so it was an hour and a half until we got it.  Then we were able to see Phil.

Tuesday we had Zone Conference in Derby. We had car inspections and breakfast. Then we had some trainings and then we had lunch and some role plays. Then we got the I pads. All the missionaries that are going home this week were not given one. Very sad. Then we had a Testimony Meeting for all the missionaries going home in the next 3 months. This was great to hear everyone’s testimony. There are about 25 missionaries going home in the 3 zones that were there. Then we had dinner with the Jarells Family. They are our investigator family that is working on baptism.

Wednesday we had time to set up Elder McGee’s I Pad. Then we went over to the Yees to help them move a few things. That night we had dinner with the Zogg Family. It was Brother Zogg and his kids. His wife was at Girls Camp. He still cooked for us even with his wife gone.

Thursday we had time to visit people. We meet with the WML and then we saw the Stoddarts. Then we had dinner with the Eggleston Family.

Friday we had District Meeting. Then we went on Exchanges with the Zone Leaders. This was lots of fun. I went with Elder Every. It was fun to go on Exchanges with him because when I was serving in Topeka he was in my district and we went on exchanges many time before.  We had to take our car in for an oil Change. Then we saw a few people then had dinner. Then we went to volleyball night at the Church Building. Then on our way home we had to stop by the other Church Building to pick up an elder’s I pad that he left in the Class Room.

Saturday we exchanged back at the Elders Quorum BBQ. Then we had new tires put on our car. Then we saw the Jerell’s Family. Then we had dinner with Sister Galloway.
Sunday we had Church. The Jerell’s family came to church this week. I was called up to the stand to bare my testimony because it was my last week as a missionary. So that was fun. Then we had dinner dropped off by the Parkerd family. Then we had a mission Presidents Devotional. This was for both the Derby and Wichita Stakes. This was a great meeting for Recent Converts and Investigators. It was cool to see how many families came even with it being Father’s Day. It was cool to see Peggy there. Peggy was down in Wellington when I was down there and then I ran in to her when I was in the Maize Ward. Now she is in the Andvover ward and attends church when she has off.

This week has been great.

I am truly great full that I was able to serve a mission here in Kansas. It has not been the easiest thing in the world but it has been lots of fun. I have truly learned a lot about using the Atonement every day to repent of the things that I have done wrong. That everyday we need to make steps to become a better Follower of Jesus Christ. That as we pray for help we can all ways get an answer to our prayers. It has been the best to see people that don't have Jesus Christ in their life come and learn about him. Their whole lives changes. They truly become a happy and want to make steps unto him. They truly bless their life and their family. I have also learned a lot about the area you are called to is the area that Heavenly Father needs you to be in. There are people you need to talk to and help. That as you find them and step out of you comfort zone you can see His hand in you life and everyone around you. I have truly learned a lot and am grateful I was able to serve a 2-year mission.

Thanks for every thing. Have a safe week. Keep cool this week.
Love,

Elder Andrew Allen.

Friday we saw the Basham Family and Jarred and few other less actives before dinner. We had dinner with the Jacob Family. Then we left to have a lesson with Bill and his family.

Then we had a team up with Brother Hibbs in the Ward. We were able to try 3 families and all them were home and talked to us. It was a great night.

We still need to do our part but use the new tools we are given. Elder Clark also talked about how these new programs will help raise a more protected generation of youth and will teach us how to use the Internet and Face Book and raise our kids. We were able to stop in and see Bill and his family. They finally got the water heater to work.  So we had a hot shower after our day.
Saturday we started the day with a move. We were able to help a family that lived in north Wichita move into our ward. They meet President Bell and he told them the missionaries would love to help. So the Zls and us went to help, they are a part member Family. Then we had the Baptism. It ended up that the Basham family thought the baptism was at 2pm. So they showed up an hour late. But it all worked out well. Then we had dinner with the Hursucel family.
Sunday we had church and the confirmations of the Cadavid girls. It went well but we had to redo the confirmations in Sunday School because of the wording that was said. It was someone in the audience that said something to make us look into what was said and what need to be fixed. In the end we got it all worked out. We had a great time at church. Then we went over to the Baham's for lunch. Then we had dinner latter in the day with the Power Family.
This has been a great week. I will send the baptism picture when I get a copy of it. My camera is not working to well. But I have a cool picture of a wheat filed. Thanks for every thing.

This had been a great week and we saw lots of progression in many people this week. Jarred and Brittney are still working to baptism. Jarred had cleared up all the legal things that were holding him back now they are planning on getting married. Thanks for every thing.

Love,
Elder Andrew Allen

April 6, 2015

This week has been very interesting. Lots of driving and some loss of sleep.  I will have to keep this short because the library is closed today out in Lamar.

Monday we had p-day. We were able to take pictures as a district. Then we had dinner with the Ortiz family. Then we went down to Springfield. It was Derek Millers birthday. So the family went down to spend it with the older daughter, Megan, in Springfield.

Tuesday we had time to eat lunch with the Fillmore's. We then had time to say bye to people. We saw the Millers and Mastes family and many others. We also had sports night. It was lots of fun to play volleyball and Dodge Ball. We had a great turn out there.

Wednesday we got up at 2:30am to drive to the Dodge area. This was a long drive and we got there in time but it ended up that the Van from the Mission office was very late. I ended up going with Elder Walton and Elder Goum back to Garden City to work. We had lunch with a member and were able visit a few people after Elder Walton spent hours working on stake paper work. Then we met up back at the building in Dodge City when Elder McIntier got there. Also Sister Brown got here for Lamar also. Then we made the drive back.

Thursday we had time to unpack and meet a few people. We were able to have lunch with Brother Simmons then we helped Pauline move. Then we had dinner with the Clark Family. Then we went over to the Millers to have a lesson over there. They we acting like an investigator family. The sisters were passing them off to us so we could teach them. It ended up that that Brother Miller then told us that they were members and he was the AWML (a ward mission leader). Then I was able to talk to Jarred. He is doing great but working through legal things before he can be baptized.

Friday we had District Leader Interviews. Then we saw Pauline and Jamie and Melody. Then we were able to visit with Marcus and Ben and his family. Had a great day.

Saturday we spent most of our time at the church building. We had lunch with the Fillmore's. Then after Priesthood Session the ward had Ice Cream for us to Eat. This was a great Day.

Sunday we started off watching the first Session at the Church Building. It was only the Missionaries and the Clark family for all the Sessions. Then we again had lunch at the Fillmore's. Then we were able to watch the last session with the Millers. It ended up that Opel and Brittney and Jarred and Derek’s friend were all there. This was a great time. Then we had time to have a Lesson with them all. Then we had dinner with all of them at the Church Building and then played Dodge Ball and Volleyball.
